History
Opened 1855 by Harvey Parker, the Parker House is among the oldest continuously operating hotels in the U.S. Dickens, Emerson, and political figures passed through; Boston cream pie and Parker House rolls are culinary claims to fame. The current building is a 1920s replacement on the historic site.
Ghost stories and paranormal claims
Labeled lore. Treat the following as longstanding reports and tour-script stories unless a primary source is cited.
Elevator lore, floor 10 stories, and Harvey Parker’s lingering presence circulate in Boston ghost tours. Hotel staff may or may not entertain questions—always prioritize guest privacy and hotel rules.
Field notes
Hours, fees, and access rules change — always double-check the official site or managing agency before you travel. Be a good guest: no trespass, no damage, no removal of objects, and no after-hours entry where barred. Daylight visits are the responsible baseline; paid evening programs only when the operator offers them.
