History
Chesterfield Cemetery serves the historic Chesterfield section of Montville in southeastern Connecticut. Like many small New England yards, it holds 18th- and 19th-century stones for farm families and local parish dead—ordinary town history written in slate and marble rather than a single famous monument. Find A Grave and town records list several hundred interments; the grounds remain an active memorial landscape, not a theme park.
Local ghost lore
Chesterfield does not have a single statewide “named ghost” on the scale of Easton’s White Lady or Burlington’s Green Lady. Field interest here is typical of rural CT cemeteries: unexplained voices, footsteps, and the sense of being watched after dark.
